The Terry Fox Run is happening on campus! Please join the postdoc team and raise money for this great cause. Interested participants should head to the Terry Fox website and click the "Join our Team" button where you can setup your individual page with fundraising goals (note you can choose to run elsewhere and still be a part of our team). 

Update: Registration for the run starts at 9:30 am in UCC; race begins at 11:00 am. Please note that those who have registered online will still need to register in person on site. Each participant will also receive a free Western Film movie ticket

Please meet other postdocs on the team near the metal bench in front of UCC around 10 am on Sunday.

Tuesday, Sept 19th,
9:00 am - 11:00 am 

Stress Management Workshop. 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The workshop will be run by Dr. Melanie-Anne Atkins, the Coordinator of the Wellness Education Centre at Western, and will cover effective strategies to manage and cope with stress to improve overall mental health and wellness. Breakfast will be served for those attending the workshop. Space is limited.

Wednesday, Sept 20th, 10:30 am - 2:00 pm;

Academic Job Application Workshop. 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. 

During this workshop we have invited senior and newly-appointed principle investigators to discuss several aspects of the academic job application process:

• 10:30-11:00am – Introduction and information session on how to find academic job postings
• 11:00-12:00pm – Information and Q&A session on the most current application process including advice on preparing your application and interviewing. This exciting panel will consist of junior faculty members who have recently made the transition from postdoc to professor: Dr.’s Silvia Penuela (Anatomy and Cell Biology, Schulich Medicine and Dentistry),Liliana Alvarez (School of Occupational Therapy, Health Sciences), Andrew Pruszynski (Brain and Mind Institute) and Corey Baron (Medical Biophysics, Robarts).
• 12:00-1:00pm – Lunch will be served for registered attendees only
• 1:00-2:00pm – Negotiating a job offer with Q&A. For this we have an exceptional panel of senior faculty members who sit on hiring committees across a range of Western faculties: Dr.’s Jane Rylett (Schulich Medicine and Dentistry, Robarts), Lisa Hodgetts (Anthropology, Social Sciences) and Anthony Straatman (Mechanical & Materials Engineering, Engineering).
